About Us
Background
Newham Education Business Partnership (NEBP), a not for profit organisation, was formed as a company limited by guarantee and as a charitable trust in 1990. It is governed by a Board of Directors, which is comprised of senior managers from both education and business sectors. The NEBP team offers a friendly and welcoming service, bringing vast experience and professional knowledge to the brokerage of education business liaison.
NEBP’s remit is to forge and broker education-business links and support the development of work-related learning and enterprise skills in young people. This is achieved through the delivery of a variety of programmes which develop young people’s understanding of the world of work whilst enhancing their employability skills. All our projects / activities are delivered with the support of the business community with whom we have a very positive relationship. NEBP’s role in building worthwhile partnerships between education and industry addresses the vital need to bring genuine knowledge and understanding of business to the classroom.
We are able to assist with CRB checks and ISA-registration, both for our own volunteers and the wider community.
NEBP is a member of the Borough’s 14- 19 Partnership and works closely with schools and colleges and Newham’s Regeneration Department, to ensure a cohesive and coherent ‘menu of services’ that meets the needs of students as well as addressing the requirements of employers.
Award for Education Business Excellence (AEBE)
In October 2009, NEBP became one of the first in London and amongst the few Education Business Partnerships across the country to achieve the Award for Education Business Excellence. The AEBE accredits organisations to the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DFE) National Standard for education business links organisations.
External assessors awarded 100% across all aspects of NEBP including management, finance, legal and statutory responsibilities. The organisation was further recognised as being efficient in Brokerage, Strategy and Partnerships and in the Delivery of Specialisms e.g. work experience, enterprise and employability, economic awareness, subject specialism and Professional Development.
The assessors remarked that ‘NEBP is ‘gold’ standard and that we do not come across many of those.’
