Breaking down the goal
Building bridges
Worksheet b
Brief: to build some beam bridges, using only one sheet of A4 paper for each bridge. You can use different designs for the beams.
- Observing - which bridges support the least/most weight
- Variables - the different designs for the beams
- Drawing conclusions - deciding which design is the strongest
- Planning - making the experiment a fair test by using A4 size paper for each bridge spanning the same distance with each bridge
- Measuring - the load which each bridge supports before collapsing
- Evaluating - deciding how the experiment could be improved next time. Was the method satisfactory?
- Communicating the result - recording what happened (in the form of a table)
- Hypothesising - predicting which design of beam will support the greatest mass
Arrange the above statements in the order in which you think they should be done. |
