New Deal for Communities

New Deal for Communities (NDC) is a £56 million regeneration initiative working within West Ham and Plaistow set up to tackle the problems of social deprivation.

The community are at the heart of the NDC programme and it is vital that the people who live in the area play a leading role in what happens, and are involved in deciding how money is spent.

The West Ham & Plaistow NDC was established in 1999 with a vision that 'At the end of the ten year period… the area will have good quality locally managed housing, good community facilities, an attractive environment, excellent schools and services, and the ability to access economic opportunities as they arise.'

Following consultation a number of projects have been initiated and many are already running. There are nine areas that NDC are concentrating on:

Economy
Health
Youth
Education
Housing & Neighbourhood Management
Crime
Information Technology
Community Involvement
