West Silvertown

With the first wave of new homes nearly complete, the first phase of West Silvertown consists of a mixture of private and public housing. Designed to reflect the self-sustaining qualities of a village, the development has nearly 800 private housing units and 140 social housing units.

A second phase of development, due to start shortly, aims to provide an "innovative blend of residential, retail and leisure facilities in an attractive waterfront location, overlooking the Thames and the Royal Victoria Dock." At the heart of the scheme lies a new 120,000 sq ft world-class Aquarium.

The proposed development includes approximately 5,000 new homes, together with some 400,000 sq ft of entertainment, retail, restaurant and community floor-space. The design of the new residential districts will create a diverse mix of buildings, including loft style apartments and affordable housing, to provide the backdrop for a new community.
