Aims & Objectives
To give teachers and school staff an insight into current practices and future trends in the world of work, it can also provide personal development opportunities to up-date skills and knowledge. Experiences gained will enable teachers to be confident in providing guidance to their students. CPD will be invaluable to teachers engaged in the planning
and delivery of the full range of 14-19 Diplomas by facilitating a close working
relationship between Industry and Education. Training needs are met usually
within a business or industrial setting by providing a programme of activities.
This programme of activities can be customised to meet specific requirements
if needed.
Description of Activity
- NEBP recruits business and confirms placement opportunity
- Placement arrangements finalised by NEBP, business, teachers and school
staff - Staff participate in their placements, typically for one day
- Following completion of placement, evaluation forms by participants sent
to NEBP - In school, dissemination or action planning based upon the placement by
participating staff
Learning Outcomes
Depending on their original aims and objectives for the placement, participants
can:
- Update specialist knowledge and skills
- Obtain relevant resources for classroom activities
- Establish valuable and sustainable business links
- Develop leadership and management skills
- Be better informed about current working practices
- Plan and develop applied/work related-learning delivery models
Details
CDP opportunities are regularly sent out to schools via e-mail and fax allowing
staff to easily access a wide range of staff development opportunities.

Group Professional Development for Staff
Aims & Objectives
To spend a day in a business or industrial environment gaining or updating
management skills or specialist knowledge. The experiences gained will link
to the School Improvement Plan and benefit students via enhanced curriculum
delivery, careers advice, applied learning through 14-19 Diplomas and Work-Related
Learning.
Description of Activity
- School objectives for placements agreed with Headteacher / Senior Leadership
Team - Staff briefing session led by NEBP to explain the placement programme and
process - Recruitment of businesses by NEBP to match school / individual staff objectives
- Staff participation in their customised placements in different business
environments - De-briefing session for staff led by NEBP and advice for action plan and
follow-up activities
