Description of Activity
Mentors are matched with students, on a one-to-one or small group basis. Mentors
can support their students by listening, discussing relevant issues, exploring
problems, helping with planning, giving an awareness of the world of work,
and providing an ‘independent’ viewpoint. The programme matches mentors
from either one or a variety of companies with mentees from one school. Typically,
these pairings will have four group face-to-face meetings and in between each
pairing will develop a working relationship via email, meeting personal targets
and discussing points in a business-style manner. NEBP offers a secure,
monitored e-mentoring software environment to ensure that all e-mail contact
is easy and safe.
