Aims & Objectives
- To improve students’ knowledge of financial procedures and terminology
- To improve self-management of their own finances
- To develop an understanding of various means of purchasing goods or services
- To develop teamwork, communication, listening and speaking skills with
volunteers from the world of work
Description of Activity
Working with NEBP staff and trained volunteers from the world of work, students will work through fully resourced seminars on a range of issues around Personal Finance. Seminars are interspersed with a forum theatre performance that highlights modern financial dilemmas and situations, while providing an entertaining starting point for the learning in the seminars. This programme can be adapted to meet different curricula requirements.
Learning Outcomes
Students will develop an awareness of and/or skills in:
- Knowledge of how to interpret pay slips and other financial documents
- An understanding of key financial terms
- Communication
- Listening
- Speaking confidently
- An understanding of modern means of purchasing goods or services
- A basic understanding of Bank Accounts, Credit, Debit and Store Cards
- Improved management of personal finances
- an insight into modern working life
- responding appropriately
This contributes towards young people’s understanding and management of their
Economic Wellbeing.
