Preparation for WEX – Rights & Responsibilities
Aims & Objectives
- To prepare students for a Work Experience placement
- To help deliver the Rights & Responsibilities element of the ASDAN
– Career Planning qualification - To ensure students understand the concept of Functional Skills and their
application in the work place - To raise awareness on key issues for the workplace
Description of Activity
To assist with preparation for work experience, schools can select from a range of sessions which can be supported by representatives from the world of work. The sessions can address the following:
- Action planning using the development of the key skills and wider skills
during work experience as a focus - Health and Safety using resources and a variety of exercises
- Rights and Responsibilities and Equality of Opportunity in the workplace
using panel games, role play (tribunals), discussion and debate as strategies
to raise awareness on these issues - Enterprise skills a simulation exercise where the activities will focus
on business enterprise and teamwork. Students create their business plan,
product and marketing strategy and give a presentation
Learning outcomes
Students will develop an awareness of and/or skills in:
- Effective team-work
- Communication and presentation skills
- Debate, role play and negotiation
- The wider key skills
- Enterprise/creativity
- Action Planning
- Body language
- Why Health and Safety is important in the workplace, and how they can impact on an individual and the organisation as a whole
